Ubisoft launches digital game publishing business
Ubisoft has been publishing games digitally for a while now – including on iPhone – but the publisher has just created a dedicated digital games publishing business, headed by former Microsoft exec Chris Early. iPhone will be included in the division, along with Facebook, Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, and Android. The division will have its own budget to develop digital games, but it will also work with other parts of Ubisoft on games for iPhone and the other platforms. « In the past, the company did this in an ad hoc manner, but now we can bring some focus to it, » he says. Currently, Ubisoft still licenses some of its brands out to Gameloft for iPhone.
Steve Jobs announced the new-fourth generation iPhone at the WWDC, in San Francisco. With a better screen resolution, two cameras including HD video recording and editing, the same processor as the iPad, the iPhone establishes its reputation again. The iPhone4 also features:
- a 5 Mp camera
- iOS 4, the new operating system allows multitasking, video chat, better file management… everything that made iPhone one of the best smartphones.

Serious game at the British Museum
The British Museum’s new website for kids called Young Explorers features a serious game. Aimed at 9- to 14 year-olds, Young Explorers invites everyone to travel back in time to explore ancient cultures and rescue precious objects from imminent disaster. A typical serious game that makes culture and arts accessible and fun to young audiences.
This partnership will integrate Zynga’s popular social games through Yahoo!’s global network.
‘For Zynga, the Yahoo deal is a bit of a diversification play since the company is dependent on Facebook for a lot of its usage. ’ ’Yahoo will put Zynga games on the home page, Yahoo Games, Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger’ and will potentially reach 600 million people worldwide.

We announced the launch of Totally Spies! Fashion Agents at MIP TV, last week. Today is D-Day. OUAT Entertainment, in co-publication with Marathon Media, launches the first RPG (Role Playing Game) adapted from a TV series on Facebook.
From a friendship story…
OUAT Entertainment knows the ‘Totally Spies!’ series very well. We co-produced with Marathon Media the PC/DS/Interactive DVD versions in the past four years. Above all, at OUAT Entertainment, we love Totally Spies! The positive, optimistic and fun atmosphere, the friendship between Sam, Alex et Clover, the different reading levels that allowed to gather fans from 8 to 88 years old in more than 120 countries, the strong epic dimension… We could not but see all the qualities necessary to make an excellent social network game.
…to a social game
Totally Spies! Fashion Agents is aimed at all fans of the series, as well as everyone who is enticed to both save the world and share an apartment with friends.
In TS! FA, the player creates her or his own character. The character is a student at Mali-U, the famous Malibu University where our friends Sam, Alex and Clover are students. Players are recruited by WOOHP, and alternate between missions to save the world enabling them to level up, and shopping of new costumes and objects to decorate their apartment. The aim of the game is to attain the ‘Fashion Agents’ level, a particularly attractive level from the point of view of personal wardrobes and home furnishings!
A constantly evolving game
To the online version, the dedicated team at OUAT Entertainment will add new functionalities, items or missions every week. We want to build a game of great depth, packed with surprises galore, we want to have fun with the Totally Spies! universe, and we want to improve the game taking into account players’ opinion.
